Hi fellow makers!
I'm a Ruby on Rails dev on an indie journey so I am often (too often? 😅) hanging out for inspiration on ProductHunt, X etc... but I want to start interacting more with people and building a little community there as well!
> Problem: I didn't know where to start and what to post for my very first tweets 😵💫 so I wondered what others did and what they started posting when they joined...
> Long story short, it was so tedious and you can't do that quickly without flickering with the advanced search on X and inputting precise dates and usernames one by one - so I created my own Chrome extension over a day to do just that! 🕊️
Hope you'll have fun finding your old tweets or anyone else's 🚀
PS: I wrote about my findings while building it and about extensions in general on X.
Now go dig into the past and feel free to repost and tag me on your very first one with the hashtag #time machine! > @annedevj #timemachine
Hey @annedevj very cool idea, I would not have thought of something like this. Just installed your extension 👏🏻
I think this is super helpful to get some inspiration for tweets.
Always love to see other people building in public.
Congrats on the launch and enjoy the journey 🚀
@crebuh thank you! Yeah that was my goal and it's quite fun to see what others people started tweeting too - or something it shows you that they didn't start very strong so it made me de-dramatize 😅

Congrats on the launch! This is a very niche tool but definitely does what it's supposed to do. Not many know that there are search operators for X but with this, this is going to be quite helpful.
@glen_dsouza_1 for sure! And just inputting the same search operators over and over when you want to search for many different people was too tedious for me, I had to automate that 😇 let me know if I should add more search options!
Let's go ! Smart idea quick and easy to use, installed and good job it fits well with X interface. Good luck with your launch day (and hope if there is demand you can monetize it !)
@robbie_janney oh that's true, didn't think of this use case at all! 🔥 feel free to share it with them if you know any 🤗

So this tool can show anyone's tweet history, privacy concerns anyone? Can see some potential for misuse but maybe some safeguards could help, what do you think about adding some kind of consent feature for users?
@digitalgrowthpro Hi Adam, good point! However I only use what's already present, ie Twitter's advanced search in the explore tab, which already exists and is available to everyone, just complicated and tedious to use :)
So privacy concerns would regard Twitter in this case, as this is already open to everyone 😬 hence the importance of keeping track of what you wrote and sometimes doing some cleaning on your profile I guess 👌
This is such an interesting idea, @annedevj! I can totally relate to the struggle of finding inspiration for tweets. What features does your Chrome extension offer to simplify the search process? Also, did you face any challenges while building it? I'm curious how you approached the API limitations and any potential workarounds. Looking forward to trying it out! 🚀 #timemachine
@emma_ning I'll let you try it or just look at the screenshots to see how it enables you to quickly use the search instead of having to manually enter and tweak with the advanced search options ☺️
