Organizing apps on your iPhone sucks. Use Thumbwise to do it from your Mac instead. Read your iPhone layout over USB, place apps, folders and widgets exactly where you want them, preview, then apply. Your previous layout is backed up first, so you can always restore it. Optional: cut page swipes using your Screen Time data, or let your AI assistant arrange your layout to your exact specifications using the Thumbwise MCP. Free to download and try; $14.99 once to unlock Applying to your iPhone.

Hey everyone, I’m Drake.
I’ve always hated rearranging my iPhone Home Screen. You drag one app, three others jump somewhere else, and the widget you wanted on page 2 ends up on page 3. I’d usually give up halfway through.
I tried Apple Configurator, since it can change the layout on a connected iPhone, but it’s really built for managing devices, not for arranging your own phone. People commonly report it removing widgets and pulling apps you’d hidden in the App Library back onto your Home Screen and many other issues. That’s what pushed me to build my own.
Thumbwise reads your Home Screen over a USB cable and lets you arrange everything on your Mac. Apps only move when you move them, widgets go exactly where you put them, and nothing comes back from the App Library. You preview the result before applying it, and your old layout gets backed up first in case you want it back.
Two other things I wanted for myself:
Usage data. Screen Time already syncs your iPhone app usage to your Mac, so Thumbwise uses it to estimate how many page swipes your layout costs you and can rearrange things to cut that down.
AI. Thumbwise has a built-in MCP server, so Claude, Codex or any MCP assistant can see your whole layout, your app icons and how you actually use your apps. Then it does the tedious part for you. Ask it to “put every app I haven’t opened in a month into one folder on my last page,” “give me one page per category and keep my daily apps out front,” or “merge my overlapping folders and give them clear names.” It builds the draft, tells you how many swipes it saves, and you review everything before anything touches your phone. One early user went from years of clutter to 55 cleanly organized folders. And yes, it can also sort your apps by color, just for fun.
Everything stays on your Mac. No account, no server. It’s free to download and play with, and $14.99 once if you want to apply layouts to your phone.
