LOVED this book though it was upsetting, even if we all did see the ending coming. I'm curious what takeaways people had? Esp those who upvoted (@adammarx13, @eriktorenberg)! :)

Chinua Achebe in his short novel managed to tell a lot. He painted for the reader a vivid and imaginative picture of the life of Nigerian tribes. And then - the arrival of missionaries, who brought with them a new religion and their own order. Despite the fact that the white man seems to carry enlightenment and the law, you still remain on the side of the savages, as this is a whole culture, with its own characteristics, traditions, albeit cruel, gods, rituals, holidays. An original culture, which is erased by the colonialists, planting their culture and faith, as well as the laws of their queen. And as it turned out, such experiences arose not only with me, I read examples of essays at https://studydriver.com/things-f... and found like-minded people among them, which turned out to be pretty nice.
