The Great Suspender is best known for automatically pausing inactive tabs to cut memory/CPU usage without forcing you to close your workflow. But the alternatives landscape is broader than “suspend vs don’t”: some tools prioritize a one-click declutter and link stashing (OneTab), others add a full project/workspace layer with tab history, notes, tasks, and cross-device sync (Workona), and newer entrants lean into session + tab group management or AI-assisted organization (Tab Deck, Side Space). There are also purpose-built “bring it back later” options that treat tabs as a scheduled queue rather than a performance problem (Snooze Tabby), giving you different ways to manage attention and context switching.
In evaluating options, we looked at how each approach impacts day-to-day workflow (instant declutter vs structured workspaces vs scheduling), ease of onboarding, restore reliability and backup/sync, performance at high tab counts, pricing/free-tier limits, and ecosystem fit (Chromium-only support, integrations, and whether the tool aims to be lightweight or an all-in-one hub).
