Explore 5,000+ years of changing borders on a cinematic 3D globe. Follow historical journeys, discover our surrounding solar system and cultural constellations, and experience illustrated history; including a living environment in ancient Mari (more to come).
How did Astra change the scope or ambition of what you built?

Astra helped expand Terrava from an existing partial historical atlas into a dramatically richer living historical world (and solar system). With Astra in Codex, I did a major refactor to a custom Three.js globe with terrain, atmosphere, and cinematic navigation. I added a real-time accurately positioned solar system using astronomical data, real stars, and Western and Chinese constellation discovery. Historical illustration became an entirely new part of the product. For Mari, it grew into a living environment built with Blender and Three.js, connecting a harbor, city street, and temple terrace with depth, movement, and sound (more polities to come). I directed the product, design, and historical interpretation; Astra helped me carry those ambitions across research, engineering, and visual production, with sources and uncertainty (improvements to come) kept visible.

Hi, I’m Mick, the solo maker behind Terrava—a living atlas of power, place, and time.
Explore 5,000+ years of changing borders, kingdoms, and empires on a 3D globe. Follow historical journeys, discover illustrated history and cultural constellations, or explore a live solar system positioned using astronomical calculations.
Ancient Mari is our first living environment: a painted illustration brought into 3D, moving from canal to city street to temple terrace, with movement and sound (more to come). Try The First States journey and stop in Mari.
GPT‑6 Astra substantially expanded what I could build. Terrava was already a partial historical atlas. Astra in Codex helped me adopt a custom Three.js globe, improve territories and journeys, develop the sky, and introduce illustrations and the Blender-based Mari environment. I direct the product, design, and historical interpretation, with sources available throughout. Terrava also supports AI agents through WebMCP.
Exploration is free. I want to sustain regular new content and development. What would you pay for—deeper journeys, more living environments, or live voice conversations?
GPT-Live Voice works, but costs need managing. For launch day, we’re aiming to offer a few minutes per visitor, subject to a shared allowance. Tell me whether it adds value—and where you’d like to explore next.
