@exlemor There are tons of ways 'storytelling' can be monetised outside ads. Anything that's applicable for digital goods (hello gaming!) can be applicable for stories in the right context. Even within 'books', we have Episode, Ubisoft's recent City of Love experiment, Radish etc for virtual currency; Kindle Unlimited, Audible, Channillo, Hardbound etc for subscriptions, Inkitt for monetising print through free-digital consumption, and a LOT more experiments :) Wattpad itself has tried storytelling for brands / pre-release marketing for movies etc over the years, given their gigantic userbase.

@bombayhustle unfortunately... on the not being anti-ads - Advertising has gone way overboard in society and way too invasive as is... That said, I did really like some of the campaigns that you have on business.wattpad.com too bad your forced focus or at least the attention you seem to garner is so millennial / Gen Z driven... also too bad you have associated yourselves with some of the worst companies in the world... With all that reach into our next generations, it would have been so much cooler and impressive and honorable if you had partnered with more eco-friendly, more environmentally conscious, more morally driven companies and causes... I realize that with those super large companies comes super large sales/income and you may have pressures from outside investors to produce potentially - just too bad... In the hopes that the focus will shift... best of luck!
