What do you think? …

Just browse the web as normal and find a potential partner every time you open a new tab.

Interesting to see the new tab 'real estate' evolve from to-do lists to dating! I wonder how distracting it'd be though, to see potential dates with every new tab. :)

Hey guys, thanks for the upvotes and thanks Eric for the original post. We're really excited about what Tab could do in the dating market as it's coming from a completely different place than everything else. We're focusing on two things: 1. More seamless way to date. Tab makes dating much more like real life that any other site, every tab opened is a potential partner. We don't believe people switch on and off from dating mode but this is the behaviour that a user has to do whe they dip in and out of dating apps. 2. Behaviour led matching. We'll be using browser history to match people. Our hypothesis is that this will be yield better results than declared behaviours that people currently submit on dating sites. After all we all know, what we say and what we do are two different things. Look forward to answering any other questions you might have!

@shib88 The behaviour led matching sounds interesting and also raises a question or two! Do you store this data in any way? If not, what happens when people delete their browser history - do you start from zero again? Also is the product completely meant to be operated from the new tab, or do links lead to a website?
Shib Hussain
@manasvinik @shib88 this is a really great question. Everything will be in the tab, the user will never have to go anywhere else. Regarding history, if you clear it will start again as we don't plan to store that locally!

@shib88 everything will be in the tab, including the chat? A full-fledged app in a new tab sounds very cool, congrats! :)

It could get really awkward if someone saw your browser in a public place like work hahaha but pretty cool.

This is interesting. It almost seems to be the new form of Tindr, but in Chrome. Wonder what it will do to differentiate?
Shib Hussain
@linkchef hey Jacob, great question. And a common one we've been facing. The similarities with tinder are due to the 'hot or not' type mechanic. However we believe dating is a two headed beast - experience and data set. We'll be using a user browser history to match which in our opinion is a huge differentiator.

Not a big fan of 'coming soon' pages on PH. Doesn't it just defeat the purpose?
Justin Balthrop
Interesting. Why does this need to be a Chrome extension? How is this different from just setting a dating website as your default page for new tabs?
Shib Hussain
@ninjudd hey Justin, we like to think we will remove the barriers of having to sift through profiles - something you would have to do if you simply had another dating site as your default page on a new tab.
