Hey PH š I'm Liam, based in Yiwu, China, where a lot of this stuff actually ships from.
Our team here does sourcing and QC for people importing from China. We kept watching the same thing happen: someone finds a product on 1688 or Alibaba, the unit price looks great, they wire the money, and the real cost only shows up later. Duty they didn't classify. VAT nobody mentioned. Freight priced on volumetric weight, not actual weight. Prep work they didn't budget. By then the margin is gone.
