This looks super interesting. I wonder if there are any cultural differences that contribute to its popularity in Japan. I never would have thought of a weather app that asks me my mood, haha.
@rrhoover i think this is more than just another good looking weather app. if you look more into the backstory and their product video it's for a very different type of experience and user than the crowded market you refer to
Visually it looks fantastic but to be honest, I'm skeptical of new weather apps.
So many are chasing this space because its a universal, daily use product. A new "pretty" weather app launches each week but I haven't seen any that do much more than layer a coat of beauty. To compete, it needs to do more than that, imho. The built-in iOS weather (powered by Yahoo) is enough for me and more accessible than a third-party app. Google Now and other predictive services are in some ways "eating" the weather apps space, surfacing this data more "invisibly."
One weather app I'd like to call out is betaworks' Poncho. Although early and only available in NYC, it has a very unique on-boarding flow (it asks if you have a dog, which train you take, etc. to better plan your daily commute) and vision. @huangkuan might describe it differently but I see Poncho as a daily assistant that helps its users have a more predictable and delightful day. cc @lexilewtan
