Thanks for this! As someone who just released an app, The hardest thing is always how to get the word out, where to submit, etc. This will be very useful for first time startups like myself.
@xcast3d Glad to hear you find it useful. There's still an art to really leveraging a list like this, which I hope to provide some sort of guide for at a later point.
Love this! I think anyone who's ever had to do online PR or marketing has a similar list that they could combine with this to add value (I've suggested quite a few updates already).
I'd it if there was a way to show what individuals are "pitching" in order for those that have made relationships with some of these pubs to share as a find with their existing journalist pals, allowing us to stay engaged between our own pitches, provide some value to journalists and hopefully help other startups to get some visibility for some truly stellar tech (and not just from those that spend big bucks for PR). ProductHunt appears to be gaining traction on that front, but if we had a better way to leverage each our connections, it might result in some big media movement (and a few more success stories).

As for seeing a list of submissions, that might be something to consider in the future. I wonder though how many people are willing to go through a list of uncurated self-promotional entries.
Another idea might be to flip the concept around. For each publication we could show you who in your network is connected to journalists at the publisher. That way you could reach out to a journalist via your shared connections.

@joshdance Like Aaron mentioned it's indeed just an embedded Google Doc. Reason for using Rails is because I intended to build something myself, but then later I realized I could just embed the spreadsheet.
