Hi Product Hunt! π
I built Sublern because I was tired of constantly pausing Netflix and YouTube to look up words in a dictionary. Every time I tried to learn English through movies, I'd lose the flow, the context, and honestly β the joy of watching.
So I created Sublern: an AI-powered Chrome extension that translates any word in video subtitles instantly. Just hover β translation appears right on the video. No tabs. No pauses. No context lost.
β¨ Features:
β’ Instant AI translation on hover
β’ Native pronunciation with one click
β’ Personal dictionary with word status tracking
β’ Works on YouTube, Netflix, TED, and any site with subtitles
It's free, no account needed, and takes 30 seconds to install.
I'd love to hear your feedback! What features would you add? What video platforms do you use the most?
Thank you for checking out Sublern! π

Love the simplicity here. How long did it take to build? And does it support German subtitles yet?
Right now I'm focused on making it play nice with more video players out there. If you stumble upon one where it breaks, definitely let me know (please!). Always looking for stuff to fix.

Heyyy, congrats on the launch! Quick heads up, the Blog link in your nav is broken. Might want to fix that today while you're getting traffic from Product Hunt.

@sosnaΒ Thanks for pointing out this issue. I'm working on fixing it right now.
I am so bullish on ways to improve language learning. When I lived in Mexico for a year I always watched Mexican shows - with subtitles. I loved it bc it helped me learn slang, improve pronunciation, and learn to speak more natively vs. what we learned in Spanish class.
I'm supportive of tools just like what you've created - we should all speak multiple languages! Good luck
Love hearing this! Your Mexico story is exactly the problem Sublern solves - real language happens in real content, not textbooks. So glad you see the vision. Thanks for the support!

Hey, thanks! π
The first working version took me about 2 days to hack together. Then another couple of weeks to make it actually usable without embarrassing myself.
And yep β German works just fine! π©πͺ
