Streaks is a habit tracker that will keep a track of days you've completed your tasks for you. Just don't break the chain and you've built and you're set to build habits!
Hey all - I'm the maker of Streaks. I'll be here for a while if you have any questions or comments about the app!
This is the first app I've built using Swift, and also the first using HealthKit. I built the app because there's a number of things I need to do every day, such as ensuring I turn off my leaky tap properly (I build apps, I'm not a plumber ;) )
@tiagooooooooo Having a cap of the number of tasks (6) makes people know it'll never get out of hand. My own tasks include a couple of relatively easy tasks, as well as a "Walk X,000 Steps" task, meaning progress is shown every time I launch the app.
Then once three are knocked off it's a smaller step for the user to finish the final 3.
Additionally, it'll prompt you to adjust your steps/distance tasks based on your success/failure rate. It also provides notifications at a relevant time of day to remind you.
@hendx Great idea Quentin. I'm a stickler for building a positive routine around the little things like writing new content, reading industry news, going for a run etc. Streaks sounds like something I'd love. While I'm currently an Android user, I hope to be a user soon whether it's on a new iphone or when you build an android version. Congrats on a great tool!
@akshay2104 The punishment is breaking your streak and losing satisfaction. If you continually miss a distance/steps task, Streaks will recommend adjusting it so you can complete it more often. No punishment like public shaming or anything like that though ;)
Habit forming has so much mythology around it. It's pretty simple. Pick one thing. do it a lot. Get rewarded for your efforts. Streaks is adding simplification to the mix.
@mariosundar@micah We've got an update coming out next week that'll let you check off the previous day if you forgot to do so at the time. The update will also add "Shake to Undo", and support for 12 new languages (Chinese, Russian, etc..)
@epicplugins thanks - a good comparison. The main hook, for lack of better term, is the UI for completing a task. It feels really satisfying to complete a task in Streaks.
One of the other key features of Streaks is integration with the iOS health app. It will track your steps/distance and suggest adjustments over time to ensure you complete that task often.

@hendx@epicplugins Looks good. The initial paid put me off to start with (as I would like to trial it) perhaps some sort of freemium model may help (with the IAP being unlock more than 6 tasks - but up to 10)
@epicplugins Thanks - appreciate the feedback. I'm going to do a review in the next few weeks and reassess pricing, features, etc.. to best serve new and existing users.

I love the design of the app! However, there are so many To-do apps at the moment and I just like to keep everything in Wunderlist. Did you think of integrating / importing tasks of other To-do apps?
@jimgroenen it is likely a different use-case than Wunderlist. Streaks only allows up to 6 tasks. You can change them, but the idea is to complete the same tasks daily.

Looks great and has a good quirky feel to it!
I just discovered "Momentum" as well, which is a habit/streak app too.
Your app's advantages seem clear, but can you lay out for us how you're different and better than Momentum?
@evanlaclark Yes similar concept, just different presentation / approaches to it. One of my big influences on this was the activity chart on GitHub. I had originally hoped to model a similar thing in Streaks, but presenting 6 tasks in this way become unwieldy so opted for a simpler presentation.

@hendx: I've recently become hooked on Habit List. It's absolutely changed my life. It's also a paid app, so I'm hesitant to buy another one just to try it. What would you say differentiates this app from Habit List?
Initially, the limitation of 6 habits seems like a deal breaker to me. One of the things I love about Habit List is that it lets me create habits like "Call My Mother" that I can say I want to do only once a month. That's not really a daily habit. Even on a daily basis, I have more than 6 things I want to get done, like flossing and making the bed. Those two things are small, simple tasks, but they effectively take 1/3 of the available daily space in your app.
The one thing I hate about Habit List is that it defines a day as starting at midnight, which isn't useful for people like me who stay up late working. How does Streaks handle this?
@squeakytoy Thanks for the feedback Steven.
I can definitely see the value in being able to change the "start of day" time. Streaks doesn't offer this currently, in the name of (at least initial) simplicity.
My advice would be if you absolutely need to track more than 6 tasks then Streaks won't fit this model. For me, it's about prioritisation. I find there's a cognitive overload when there's more than about that many to complete.

Wasn't one of the OG apps in this space Lift.do ... which couldn't find a business plan that worked and shifted to coach.me ??
The UI/UX looks great here, but as others have noted seems like a pretty competitive space, with unclear long-term business potential.
I think there is an enterprise use case here that might ultimately work...
