StopBurnout is a Windows app that enforces regular, hard-to-skip breaks after focused work. Full-screen overlay on every monitor, three protection levels up to No way out, 100% local — no account, no network, no tracking. Install and start.

The "no way out" mode is brutal but I get the appeal for real focus issues. One thing that would help a lot: let users schedule a recurring daily window where the app stays completely dormant, so weekends or after-hours don't get flagged as missed sessions. Right now I'd worry about it nagging me on a Saturday morning when I'm just checking email casually.
@fevzi734517 great feedback! Thank you. Will give the possibility to basically shutdown its functionality on certain days!
this is exactly what i've been needing honestly, the no way out mode sounds intense but kinda necessary. one thing though, could you add an option to schedule which hours of the day it actually enforces breaks? like i do focus work late at night sometimes and don't want a forced break when i'm on a roll.
@tayfunayak4oub i mean, thats the idea to being forced to take a break, i understand the "being on a roll" thing, but then you could use the 2nd hardest one, where you can skip the break with a password protection
Love that it runs fully local, that was a big reason I grabbed it. One thing that would help me though, a small countdown timer visible somewhere during the break so I actually know how much longer I have to sit there. Right now the full-screen overlay hides everything and I end up guessing when it's done.
@nuriyepbrr The countdown is big and visible in the middle of the screen. Additionally giving you some nice quotes about why breaks are important to take from work
The No way out mode actually forced me to step away from my desk for once, which is exactly what I needed. Runs locally with zero setup, which is refreshing for a Windows tool these days.
@ezgi1214683 Thank you for your honest feedback.
Love the no-network local approach, that is huge. One idea: add a quick "stretch prompt" or eye exercise during the forced break overlay, something short like a 20 second guided routine. It would make the break feel useful instead of just a countdown and give users a reason to actually step away from the screen.
@glcandinca4qy9 Will add those possibilities on those break overlay to start such a thing
Honestly, this is exactly what I need for my WFH setup. One thing that would make it perfect is a quick 10-second "I'm in a meeting" snooze button that pauses the break for a few minutes without fully disabling the protection. That way I don't have to scramble when a call comes in.
