This is interesting. Although, I wonder how stashes.io will avoid becoming too cluttered. Is there a way to prevent duplicated collections or stashes that are very similar? Is there some community moderation of the stashes? What happens if the same site/url is added to different stashes? Is it duplicated as well?
At first, I though it was a roll-your-own stash platform like Telescope http://www.telescopeapp.org, but it appears to be a collection of collections more than "start your own curated directory".

@carolskelly Definitely right about the clutter. Will be implementing something similar to Reddit when you try to submit a link that's already been posted - you'll be asked to confirm if you want to post it again, or you can choose to contribute to the existing stash in my case.
Currently, the only duplication handling in place is if you try to submit a link to a substash that already contains it. No handling for similar stashes yet, but that's planned.

Awesome site. Really enjoying these stack/stash sites lately. Is there a wordpress or any other theme you guys are all using? Or is everyone just custom coding it?
The challenge of all these "stash" sites is maintaining quality. How will stashes.io do this? With the current lack of moderation, it could quickly become a firehose of resources.
@tweetfrog While not all stashes created will meet a certain amount of quality, only the good ones will be handpicked to be featured - the low quality ones will merely appear in the new feed which I don't think will result in too much clutter π
Currently no automatic moderation is in place aside from prevention of duplicate links within the same substash, but I am planning to alert users if there already exists public stashes similar to what they are trying to create that they can contribute to instead of creating a new stash.

@bramk what a great idea! Crowd curated Stashes ;) I guess the biggest problem you might face is a plethora of abandoned Stashes (ie created > but not worked on..)
Perhaps you need a probation period to encourage people to populate a stash or some other reward mechanism to start populating?
@skywalker (like I said on Twitter) Thanks for checking out Stashes.io! :)
You're definitely right about the abandoned Stashes. It's been quite a prominent problem. Right now these "abandoned stashes" aren't displayed on the front page.
I don't really want to discourage people from playing with the site, but I should definitely do something to encourage them to post more. Gamification might be a great way to solve this.
I was really excited to see this as I've wanted to create a Stash style site for awhile. That said, is there anyway to white label the site? I was a bit disappointed to see that the Stash site you create lives under the Stashes.io umbrella. I'd happily pay a monthly fee to easily be able to create a Stash site that I could more customize and run my own ads on.

Is there a way to give specific people access to your stashes versus making them entirely public or private?
Hello everyone!
A lot of stash/stack sites have been popping up lately. These sites are mostly directory sites that hosts curated lists of great resources.
I love the idea of these "stashes" and find that they are a great way to discover and organize resources and links. I built Stashes.io as a way to allow any user to easily start their own stash, to allow them an easy way to organize and share resources for any topic. Stashes on Stashes.io can also be set as "public" stashes, meaning that you can allow other users to add to and improve your stash. I hope that in the future, we will be able to view and improve these comprehensive directories of information.
It's super simple to add items and create your own stash:
With so many of these stashes popping up, it also became hard to keep track of them. I hope that Stashes.io will allow users to easily discover resources and resource lists for any topic they may be interested in.
Thanks for checking Stashes.io out, and do let me know if you have any questions!
P.S. - Thanks a lot @eric for hunting Stashes.io!
