Hey all! Developer here. We (team @ Lionheart / http://lionheartsw.com ) did the design/backend/frontend of Stacklist and are really happy with how it turned out. Amanda is the head honcho though, so if you have any thoughts / comments / random questions let me know and I can pass them on! Backend is built on Python/Django on EC2, serving static assets through CloudFront, and storing uploads / other data on S3. Also, thank goodness for the Django admin. Has been huge in helping the team manage all of this information. The amount of work and tender loving care that went into interviewing, curating, and organizing all of information on the site is really astounding. I really think this is a hugely valuable resource for anyone starting a startup. The personal reviews and testimonials really set it apart from anything else out there.

Nice initial list of tools. What I immediately noticed (and liked) was the founder quotes listed on some of the tool pages. Understanding "why" and "how" these stacks are used is very helpful!

That is a really great idea. This truly is curation not just collecting a bunch of tools in one place. Great that you can see the individual companies so you can find similar organizations as well as hearing what the actual users think.

@nbashaw Same here. It's a great place to go and find out real thoughts from real users. Sometimes the way they put it on landing pages for these apps is either too fancy with the marketing lingo, or too detailed with the feature explanations. For me, I'm looking for (what I think would be called) a CRM tool, or in plainspeak, "something that will let me target new customers I've identified via email list sign ups, social media, etc. and follow my interactions with them so I can note when I've closed a sale." (Update mid-post: this definitions page makes it super easy to understand! http://stacklist.com/articles/wh...) Starting my first new company right now too, I have definitely come to understand the mindset that many tech startups get to where they just want to hack together their own solution. It's super dense reading trying to find the right tool, and there's no time (and the risk of getting all integrated and on board when you don't even know it it does what you want it to is large, and super stressful too). But this seems to be a big step in the right direction, thanks @eric_olszewski and @dwlz!

Curation of tools for startups is not really original, but the ideas to add reviews from entrepreneurs and the popularity of each tool are interesting.
