Interesting back story: @karangoel launched the predecessor of this on PH about 2 months ago (http://www.producthunt.com/posts...) and then shortly after moved the product on to Assembly to grow as a community product. It has been really fun to watch a team form around the product, build upon the idea, and then relaunch it today with a new focus
@karangoel congrats! Love the concept. I can't wait to use it. I use blog, but the core problem you're addressing is something I felt - commitment. This seems like a potentially great solution. Good luck!
One awesome feature is the leaderboard, it ranks everyone based on how well their posts do. (maybe I just like it because I'm winning, but I'd like to see some more competition) :) http://squall.io/leaderboard
Just gave it a try. Was about to pen some thoughts but I find myself very torn over this. Was a skeptic at first for lots of reasons, decided to just try it before hatin'. Now I think I get it, but I have even more skeptical thoughts now. When that happens I need to think for 24 hours ;)

Core team here. Squall was really fun to build. I've found that it makes blogging a lot more addictive and shareable. Feel free to shoot me any questions/comments.
I'd highly recommend writing a Squall post and seeing for yourself.
It's a great idea, but there's two major problems here:
1) Requiring the link to Squall in the tweet means you're firing out two links when you want to link something. It also seems to randomly nuke characters from your 'headline' to make sure there is room for the Squall link.
2) Duplicating hashtags and links in the Squall image headline can make it look ugly - and they're redundant.
I gave it a try, but ultimately decided I could get much better results by creating my own image excerpts. I can stick to having one link, can keep it with my own branding, and provide a more elegant solution to headlines.
