@bradt I've been using SpinupWP for a few months now, and I'm not looking back. I've been dabbling in Linux command line for quite some time, but never confident enough to setup my own server from scratch. With SpinupWP, its like having an IT department dealing with the nitty gritty, and always there to answer questions (or just be a sounding board as I solve my own problems AFTER I put in a support ticket..ha!).

great product from a great company, im currently using runcloud, i have tried spinupwp, but its for only WP Sites, and I run various of other apps like node apps which need to be routed through localhost to a port, so runcloud seemed like a better option, but I havre been considering moving my wp sites over to spinupwp, as I used the trial a few weeks back, and was very impressed. Wish we could run extra configs though on each site through nginx extra configs, other than that, its a great product, hope to see more features added!

@chrismccoy Interesting, I'm curious what kinds of extra Nginx configs you would need to run? It's on our todo list to provide some documentation about how you can customize your Nginx configs manually on the server (i.e. not through the SpinupWP app) and still be able to manage your sites/servers through SpinupWP. We have plans for the future to add certain UIs to the app that would save you from having to manually edit Nginx configs (e.g. redirects and rewrites) so knowing more use cases for editing Nginx config will help us.

@bradt one simple example would be the ability to redirect parked domains to the live site. Been struggling with this today: redirect "www.example.com" and "example.com" to "www.example.co.uk" We own both domains, but obviously one of them is just to prevent someone else from capitalizing on our brand. Docs/tutorials with this kind of example would be helpful, but things are a bit sparse in the docs right now. Redirections in the UI would be wonderful.

@guy_b Yep, that will definitely be covered by our redirections/rewrites UI. In the meantime though, you should just be able to add www.example.co.uk as an alternate domain in your SpinupWP site settings. WordPress should handle the rest. Also, if you need specific page redirects, you could use the excellent Redirection plugin.

@bradt Cheers, although just to clarify. Adding a different TLD as an alternate domain doesn't work (you can't redirect domains by using DNS records), and since the site doesn't contain WordPress the only way to redirect is by using server directives (this is just one example of a setting that would be useful in the UI), but it sounds like you already have this in the pipeline for near future.

I wanted to try it but I think the pricing strategy is not as attractive as Runcloud. Why do I have to pay extra for more servers (above 3)? This is the reason why I left Serverpilot (also Runcloud has more cool features). All in all, I think it's great that you are focusing on WordPress. There is definitely a gap there, other providers are not focused on WordPress (you have to install wp-cli yourself after spinning up a server) and I thought the marketing mail you guys sent was great! I look forward to seeing new features that might entice me to make the move in the future. Watching this closely. :)

@alexander_de_jong Yea, we've heard similar comments about our pricing from other folks, but only a few and not nearly as many as I expected when we first came up with the pricing. I hope as we execute on more of the features on our roadmap, especially WP-specific features, the extra value will make SpinupWP more attractive for the price.

As an agency owner, SpinupWP is about as close to a WP control panel as I could envision if I was designing it myself. I've used several alternatives - Cloudways, WP Engine, Serverpilot, Runcloud, Flywheel - and nothing matches the simplicity and speed with which I can configure and launch a new server.

Pros:

Simple, clean, straightforward, and easy to use. 100% designed for WP.

Cons:

Still a young product, more development may be necessary to compete with other established solutions depending on your needs.

Straightforward Easy to use Can get a website running in 5 minutes SSL Free Caching optimized Total control of server

Cons:

None that I can think of. I love it and use it for all of my personal projects

For testing purposes we have been using our SpinUp server for staging our live sites. We have been using Delicious Brains WP Migrate DB Pro for this purpose. First impressions were wow! Super slick and easy setup, especially with LightSail on AWS. The sites we have setup have all been as fast as our sites on Azure/CloudLinux/LiteSpeed and *way* faster than our WP Engine boxes, which both work out far more pricey. There are signs that it's just out of beta, backup but no restore anyone, and a few things that make life harder than on say, a WP Engine site; would love a server subdomain to design on, akin to the setup.wpengine.com before you update domain DNS to go live. Would also love a staging site within the SpinUp admin, pretty please! There was certainly a learning curve above WP Engine for a non-techie like me, but not so much that I haven't been able to learn and ask questions along the way; tickets have always been answered within 24 hours. No phpMyAdmin was a shock to the system! Overall though, SpinUp is very impressive and has the potential to blow the doors off managed hosting players on a bang for buck basis - way bigger bang (faster and more sites) for way less money. Keep up the development and you'll have us on Teams in no time.
