Computer speech has come a long way, but it's still got that "Uncanny Valley" going on, are you taking any steps to reduce the "computer" in the voice at all?

@benjamin_powell some great research has come out of the likes of WaveNet by DeepMind and Deep voice 2 by Baidu. We believe that within the next year it will be difficult to tell the two apart. We're always on the look out for ways to improve the product overall.

@ptrko Baidu was not a name I was expecting! And you think 1 year is all it will take? I saw a demo from Lyrebird and the way they can mimic another person's voice, I guess you take that tech, mix it with better synthesis and you have a winner. How do you suppose they will get around the pacing and emotion that people will put into the spoken word? I guess some more machine learning, understanding context of a sentence and enough data and you can get it... I wonder if they are taking audio books and using that to train AI about emotion in a spoken narrative? Anyway, great stuff dude, Upboats for you!
