I built SpeakSharp because I used to hate public speaking.
Whenever I had to present, I’d rush through everything, lock up, lose my train of thought, and walk away wondering how badly I came across. The worst part was not actually knowing what I was doing wrong other than a vague sense that things were off. Because I couldn’t find a simple way to practise speaking and get honest feedback on my delivery, I decided to build it myself.
When I started, I only knew basic python and had no clue how SaaS products worked. Early versions of SpeakSharp were messy, reliant on AI, using one massive main.py file. Over time, I learned how APIs, FastAPI, databases, authentication, audio processing, etc. worked, and turned it into a real product.
SpeakSharp is designed to help people practise speeches, presentations, interviews, and conversations with AI-powered feedback on things like pacing, clarity, structure, and delivery. It's structured like a chat where you're given specific feedback after each attempt so you can rapidly improve how you come across.
This is still early, and I’m continuing to improve it every day, so I’d love feedback from anyone who tries it. The AI feedback is especially in early progress, but I want to take it to market to see whether people are actually interested. I still have tons of features planned, particularly around getting AI to emulate human conversations to train soft skills.
