Hey Product Hunt! 🌍 I love traveling solo, but I’ve always despised the "solo penalty"—having to cover the full price of a hotel room, a rental scooter, or a cab ride just because I’m exploring on my own. To solve my own frustration, I built SoloSplit. It’s a clean, fast web app designed to let solo travelers find other people heading to the exact same destination so they can team up, coordinate, and share expenses. What went into it: Trust & Safety First: Since traveling with strangers is daunting, I focused heavily on implementing zero-retention Government ID validations and a dynamic TrustScore™ system before users can coordinate. Lite & Clean UX: Fast route matching, global currency selectors, an unread-tracking chat drawer, and a full WhatsApp-style emoji pipeline for smooth communication. Built with AI: As a Product Manager, I used this project to push the limits of AI-assisted development—leveraging AI to rapidly write and refine the complex React state-management and secure Firebase/Firestore queries.
