Point the camera of the smartphone on side of the mountain. After a few seconds, SnoPro determines if there is avalanche danger on the slope. Seems easy and useful :)
How does it know if there is avalanche danger by only using the camera? Having taken multiple backcountry avalanche classes I would not trust a visual inspection at all. Does that app also look at recent weather patterns at your location?
