Two community-requested features are now live
Thanks to feedback from our Product Hunt launch, two asks just shipped:
Monthly Take-Home Breakdown see your in-hand pay month-by-month, Old vs New regime side by side (thanks @ferhattkge for the idea)
Regime Break-even Chart on the homepage instantly see the income level where the New regime starts winning (thanks @nurullah1luy)
Both live now at smarttaxcalc.in no signup, all in your browser. Keep the ideas coming!
honestly the client-side privacy angle is genuinely nice, hate that most tax sites demand your PAN before showing a number. quick try of the old vs new regime calc matched what my CA gave me last quarter so that part feels legit.
@birgl1s2z Thanks Birgül — "matched what my CA gave me" is the single best feedback I can get.
Every calc engine on the site is reviewed by an ICAI-registered CA (Ankitkumar Italiya, member 644575) before shipping — he goes through slabs, rebate logic, marginal relief, and every edge case. So knowing your CA landed on the same number is exactly the validation I was hoping for.
And on the PAN thing: 100% agree — that's why everything is client-side, no signup, no email, no PAN. Kudos to you for actually cross-checking before trusting.
Love that everything runs client-side and no login needed, makes it so easy to just check numbers quickly. One thing that would help a lot is adding a side-by-side comparison view for Old vs New regime that shows the difference in take-home salary month by month, not just the yearly total. Helps visualize the actual cash flow impact and decide which regime to pick during employer declarations.
@ferhattkge Thanks so much for using it and for the specific feedback! You're spot on that monthly take-home matters more than annual total for the employer-declaration decision — the cash-flow impact hits differently when you see it month by month.
I've added this to the roadmap. The good news is the calculator already computes monthly TDS under both regimes internally, so a side-by-side monthly view is mostly a rendering change (not new math). Aiming to ship in the next 1-2 weeks — I'll ping you here when it's live.
Any other pain points you hit while playing with it? Genuinely appreciate any friction points — this is the kind of feedback that makes the tool actually useful for filing season.
Hey @ferhattkge — shipped it. Monthly take-home comparison is now live on the homepage right below the calculator result. Enter your income, hit Calculate, and you'll get a 12-row Apr → Mar table showing Old vs New regime take-home per month + the delta.
Above the table there's a green callout stating exactly how much MORE cash you take home under the winning regime each month + across the year — so the employer-declaration decision becomes concrete.
Assumes flat-monthly (annual / 12) since employer TDS front-loading varies by employer. If the current shape's missing anything for your workflow, tell me and I'll iterate.
@ferhattkge this shipped ahead of the deadline. Monthly Take-Home Breakdown is now live on the homepage: enter your salary, click Calculate, and you'll see a 12-row table (Apr-Mar) showing month-by- month take-home under both Old and New regimes side by side, with the annual delta at the top. Live at smarttaxcalc.in. Would love your read on the format — happy to iterate if the columns aren't quite what you had in mind. Thanks again for the specific ask, it was a genuinely useful addition.
the client-side privacy approach is genuinely thoughtful, especially for tax data. love that there's no signup friction either, basically just open and calculate.
@kadirk23625 Thanks Kadir — that's exactly the reason I built it. India has ~80M salaried taxpayers, and every free calculator I tried wanted either an email or full PAN before showing a single number. This one just calculates. No signup, no PAN, nothing leaves your browser 🙏 Appreciate you stopping by.
