The story of Smart Receipts actually started more than 12 years ago.
Our original developer was traveling frequently for business and kept running into the same frustrating problem: tracking expenses was painful.
Receipts were everywhere.
Expense reports took too much time. And when tax season arrived, organizing everything became another job on top of the actual work.
So he decided to build something for himself.
That small project became Smart Receipts 📱🧾

Over the years, thousands of people started using it to organize receipts, track business expenses, prepare expense reports, and make tax time a little less stressful.

A lot has changed since those early days.

Today, Smart Receipts has grown beyond a single developer into a team, and we’re working on the next generation of the app with one simple goal:

Receipt scanning can be smarter. Expense categorization can be more automatic. Reports can be easier. And AI gives us an opportunity to rethink how much work the user should actually have to do.
