What do you think? …

This site is incredibly confusing to me, tbh. It's extremely cluttered and the messaging isn't clear. After a few I think I get it but unsure of its purpose. What do people use this for?

@rrhoover Last I heard, the product was running out of steam (http://www.thebookseller.com/new...) and I think the lack of a clear use case is partly to blame. Still, I can't help but think there was something here. For people who love books, there is something very intriguing about the idea of being able to see the complex relationships between real-world people/places/objects and various works of literature. I suspect it speaks to the same urge that makes people want to retrace the footsteps of the characters in Joyce's Ulysses (http://ulysses.bc.edu/). It brings the story to life. It's a shame that the Small Demons team couldn't seem to come up with an answer to the "What is this for?" question. Maybe the technology could have been useful for some sort of transmedia product? Or deployed in the service of one of the fandoms with complex backstories (eg. Dr. Who/Harry Potter/ the Marvel or DC universe)? Surely, the database of relationships they built is useful for something. I'd love to learn more about what they tried.
