I built Sifter because I was tired of not knowing whether a game would respect my time and money — or quietly nickel-and-dime me with battle passes, lootboxes, FOMO events, and energy systems until I looked up and a “free” game had cost me $80 and three weekends.
Sifter scores every game on two things:
• Design Risk — how aggressively it’s built to extract money and attention. It scores by harm, not presence, so a cosmetic-only shop doesn’t get treated like pay-to-win.
• Joy — genuine enjoyment, from real player sentiment.
Connect your Steam library and you get an instant report card on your whole collection: what’s healthy, what to play mindfully, and what’s built to squeeze you. There’s also a cross-platform library and a desktop launcher that put the trust scores right where you actually play.
Two principles I won’t break:
• Free for players, forever. No paywalls, no Pro tier. The independence is the entire point — nobody can pay to move a score.
• Your game list is yours.
It’s early and I’d genuinely love your feedback — especially anywhere a score feels wrong. Thanks for taking a look.

Connected my Steam library and was surprised how spot-on the Joy scores were for games I already loved. The monetisation breakdown felt honest and unbiased, not pulled from review-bomb sentiment.
