I’m JinYoung, the maker of Side Indexer — and today we’re sharing a tool built out of a very real frustration.
Why we built this:
AI chats aren’t disappearing. In fact, they’re piling up — fast.
If you use ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini every day, you already know the real problem: your best ideas are somewhere in there… but good luck finding them again.
We brainstorm, plan, learn, and debug inside long AI threads, yet there’s no good way to navigate those conversations afterward. You remember what you talked about — but not where it was.
Side Indexer was born from this simple insight: AI is giving us more ideas than ever, but we’re losing them to sheer volume. Not because they disappear — but because they get buried.

@harkirat_singh3777 Love this question — because that’s literally where Side Indexer performs the best.
Most tools break when the convo goes nonlinear. But Side Indexer uses a mix of markdown heuristics + semantic grouping, so even messy topic shifts get organized into clean, jumpable sections.
I’m the maker, so if you’ve got a “chaos thread” you want to test, happy to take a look 🙌

I installed it very easily, and even long AI-generated responses can be searched quickly by each index.
However, the default Chrome “Find” shortcut behaves differently.
When the Side Indexer is enabled, pressing F searches within the index, and to use the regular page “Find” feature you need to press G instead.
It would’ve been even better if these shortcut changes were explained in advance!
