First Product Hunt launch!
In November 2025, I decided to make an AI-generated music video for a hackathon. I had always wanted to make movies, so why not take a shot and do something creative. The video consisted of nine core characters, tons of shots, and one semi-coherent narrative. It can't be that tough, right?
Boy, was it. Every generation was like making a wish and hoping it would come true. A character who looked perfect in a reference image would come back with different body parts or facial features in the video. Locations would change when briefly off camera. Random objects would pop into the scene out of thin air. Not to mention keeping a bunch of characters visually consistent across an entire video meant fighting the tools every step of the way, and burning through a lot of credits.
But somewhere in all that chaos, a workflow started to take shape. Reference images with structured prompts. Style guidelines built into the prompt formats. The ability to craft structured prompts that carried visual DNA from shot to shot. By the end of the project, I wasn't just making a video β I'd figured out a pretty reliable system.
That system became ShotMaker. I figured if I had a shot at makign AI video actually work for storytelling, I should try to it into something other creators can use to bring their ideas to life. The result is a tool that helps you build a visual language for your project, and then use that language to create consistent images and videos.
Is it perfect? Not even close. AI generation is still unpredictable, consistency is still a battle, and there are days the tools feel like they have a mind of their own. But it's a real leap from where things were, and the underlying technology is improving quickly. The workflow that took me weeks of trial and error to work out will only get more powerful as the models improve.

@growthfilmstudioΒ Thank you! A demo video is in the works! I was stuck in App Store purgatory for a while and wasn't sure when things would actually become available.

@ideafactory_ltdΒ Totally get that launch timing can be unpredictable, especially with Apple App Store reviews Good call working on the demo though. If you want, I can share a few ideas on how to structure it so new users immediately understand the value and onboarding feels smoother. Either way, congrats again on getting it live!
