Hey everyone! 👋 I'm the solo developer behind Shard Bot.
I started building Shard after finding an AI agent app I really liked, only to discover that using it meant paying another $30/month. I was already spending around $400/month on AI subscriptions, and I really didn't want to pay for a third one just to use models I already had access to.
So I decided to build my own.
Shard Bot is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that lets you run AI agents using the subscriptions you already pay for, including Codex, Claude Code, and Muse Code. You can also connect an API key or use Ollama to run models locally.
The idea is pretty simple: if you're already paying for the models, why should you have to pay another subscription just to use them in an agent app? With your own model, Shard is free to use, and your files and chats stay on your machine when you're running locally.
There's also an optional cloud side for people who want a more hands-off experience. The €15 and €39 plans include a model, so you don't have to configure anything yourself. With Always On, you can schedule tasks that keep running on our servers even when your computer is turned off.
I'm still working on Shard, and there's a lot I want to improve. I'm launching because I'd love to get it into the hands of people who actually use AI agents and hear what they think.
