Similar to wecreatedit.com, see.me increases transparency in creative pursuits - allowing for independent creatives whose needs are largely unmet by existing professional networks to find a home online.
It helps to solve the huge need: "I'm a creative. How do I showcase my work online in a manner that gets me found."
In a larger sense it plays on the ongoing trend of giving the creators of work a separate identity from the managers of that creative work ( creative directors used to take all the credit. But now the makers can showcase their contribution) - allowing for more mobility and the possibility of more distributed discovery of talent outside of traditional word of mouth networks.
It's more beautiful than a Behance. But also holds onto the promise of offering financial independence - while maintaining independence.
But this great attraction is also it's greatest challenge. The process of searching in most marketplaces ensures that what's trending and popular gets a disproportionate amount of traffic. And also - that the work itself runs the risk of being arbitrarily ignored or commodified.
So I think it's a win if they can make creatives see their platform as the best way to build up to and maintain their "1,000 true fans"(http://kk.org/thetechnium/archiv...)
