ScreenWarden for Roku puts you in charge of screen time on every Roku TV and Roku player in your home, right from your Windows PC. Enhanced parental controls allow daily limits for apps, schedule nightly bedtimes, wake up to your favorite channel, launch apps remotely, and lock it all behind a password. ScreenWarden runs quietly in the system tray and looks after your Roku devices for you. There is no account to create and no cloud. Everything stays on your PC.

I started building ScreenWarden for Roku last year because Roku's built-in parental controls were inadequate for keeping my daughter off her TV. It's been a year long project and since I started, Roku has rolled out a Kids and Teen mode that still doesn't do time limits. There's no way to say "one hour of YouTube a day" or "the TV turns off at 9 PM on school nights." So I made a Windows app that does it and "five more minutes" is no longer a negotiation.
ScreenWarden runs on your Windows PC and talks to the Rokus on your home network. You can set daily time limits per app, bedtime schedules that actually get enforced, wake-up routines, and scheduled launches. All of it is password-protected so the kids can’t just switch it off. It works with both Roku TVs and streaming sticks.
It’s been live on the Microsoft Store for a few weeks, and the feedback that would help most is:
Setup: Did it find your Rokus right away? Anything confusing in the first five minutes?
Your devices: Which Roku models and TV brands are you using, and did bedtime and time limits behave the way you expected?
What’s missing: What rule or schedule do you wish it had?
Platforms: Would you use a Mac or phone version, or is a Windows PC that’s always on fine for your house?
I’m a solo developer and I read every comment, so don’t hold back. Thanks for checking it out!
