SafeRoom - Travel Privacy: Scan your hotel room for hidden cameras in 2 minutes

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m Monsafe, the founder and developer of SafeRoom. Like many of you who travel for work or leisure, I love the convenience of short-term rentals and boutique hotels. But a while back, a nagging anxiety started hitting me every time I checked into a new room: That feeling someone might be watching. When I looked at existing network scanning apps, I found them incredibly bloated, full of ads, or demanding that I create an account and upload my data to their cloud servers just to run a basic scan. To me, an app that claims to protect your privacy shouldn't be harvesting your data or tracking your location. So, I built SafeRoom as a universal iOS app with a strict zero-transmission policy. No accounts, no sign-ups, no backend servers. Everything is processed natively on your device and saved strictly to your local encrypted storage. We tackle environmental privacy through a quick, 2-minute "reassurance ritual" split into 3 distinct layers: 1. WiFi Scan: Leveraging Bonjour/mDNS protocols to fingerprint network-connected hardware. 2. Bluetooth Scan: A completely passive BLE scanner utilizing CoreBluetooth to intercept signals through walls without pairing. 3. Visual Scan: A guided physical checklist to eliminate common physical blind spots (smoke detectors, mirrors, etc.). SafeRoom is completely live on the App Store right now.
