I built Roots because I kept finding that ancient thinkers had already figured out most of what I was struggling with, I just couldn't access their ideas easily.
Marcus Aurelius helped me stop catastrophizing. Zhuangzi made me less rigid. Seneca made me think about time differently.
Curious which thinker (or idea) has actually stuck with you in real life ... and if there's someone you'd love to see in the app that we haven't covered yet
Hi PH! 👋 I'm Lien, the indie developer behind Roots.
I built it because philosophy always felt out of reach, too dense, too academic, no clear entry point. The website gives you a gentle introduction: bite-sized lessons from thinkers who actually have something useful to say about everyday life.
There's also a short quiz to help you find which philosophical path fits you, and if you want to go deeper, the iOS and Android apps let you build a daily habit around it.
Would love to know which thinker resonates with you most 🌿
