A tab manager that's $5 once and 100% local — no account, no subscription — because a tab manager shouldn't be a rental that uploads your tabs.

Took it for a spin and the local-only angle is genuinely refreshing, no surprise syncing or login popups. The keyboard shortcuts feel snappy and the one-time price is a nice change from the usual subscription grind.
@emin6zgn Thanks Emin — that's exactly the itch I built Roost to scratch. No syncing, no login walls, and $5 once because a tab manager shouldn't be a subscription. Really glad the shortcuts feel snappy. 🪺
how does it actually handle tab sync across devices if everything stays local?
@meralyarba57925 Great question. Roost is intentionally local-only, so it doesn't sync across devices — that's the tradeoff for privacy and no account. What you can do today is export any session to JSON and import into another device. Cross-device sync is the most-requested thing on my radar, and if I add it, it'll be optional and encrypted — never at the cost of the local-first default.
Does the $5 include future updates, or is it a one-time purchase for the current version only?
@rojinbalarman $5 gets you Pro and future updates — it's a one-time purchase, not version-locked. No renewal, no "Pro 2.0" upsell later. Buy once, keep improving. 🪺
The local-first angle is a genuinely thoughtful choice, especially how it sidesteps the whole subscription creep that's made tab tools feel like rentals. Paying once and keeping my data put is a relief.
@sinemtecim Appreciate this, Sinem — "paying once and keeping my data put" is the entire thesis. Tab tools drifting into rentals is what pushed me to build it.
Finally, a tab manager that doesn't try to sync my browsing history to the cloud. Five bucks once and my tab hoard stays mine, exactly how it should be.
@ftavukcuyo70638 Thanks for the support, Fevzi! 👋
You hit the nail on the head—your browsing data is your privacy, and it shouldn't be casually synced to the cloud. That's exactly why we're sticking with buy-once and local-first: Roost is here to help you organize your messy tabs, not turn your data into another commodity.
The $5 once model is genuinely refreshing and feels like the right call for something this simple. Love that it stays local too, no tab data leaving my machine.
@sedabakrdvqaup Thanks, Seda! ✨
"Refreshing"—that word truly hits home for us. In a world full of subscriptions, we just wanted to prove that a simple, straightforward tool deserves a simple, straightforward price tag.
And you're absolutely right—tab management should happen quietly and locally. All your data stays on your machine; we don't touch it. We hope Roost will always be your "quiet butler" for tabs 🦉🔒
