Hey There Product Hunt! We have always been intimidated and stressed out by the legal documents we have to review in our work and personal lives. Speaking to people from all walks of life, we're not alone - thats why only 16% of people actually read documents before they sign them. Theres a huge problem here - people can't always afford a lawyer, and if they can't understand what they're reading then it opens them up to a huge amount of risk. But this doesn't have to be the case. With the recent advancements in AI we wanted to build a tool that does three things: - Gives the user the best understanding of their legal contract as possible - Speeds up the process of reviewing a legal document to save our users time - Reduces the stress of reviewing legal documents Our goal for review.legal is to help democratise parts of the legal process - making it far more accessible and far less intimidating. This MVP hopefully starts us on the journey of achieving these goals so we welcome as much feedback as possible whilst we start thinking ahead to the future. There are some things we would like to do moving forward which include improving security, adding pdf functionality, improving UX/design - but we would also like to hear from you what features would help you review your legal documents better. So please test it out and let us know! Many thanks and happy reviewing :)
@fred_leeming1 huge congrats on your launch! 🚀 What are your next steps post-launch?
Gabe Moronta
@fred_leeming1 very helpful in many respects. Congrats to you and the team, wish you well with this.

@fred_leeming1 Being a non legal person and an entrepreneur, I have been facing many challenges to understand the legal jargons. Also, the work role cannot ignore collaboration with outside vendors and partners, so contracts and legal documents are so common to me. Review.Legal will save me a lot of time. Kudos for building this.
@fred_leeming1 Huge congrats on your launch! Wishing you a journey filled with success and growth. What are your next steps post-launch?
@fred_leeming1 Congratulations on the launch! Wishing you a journey full of achievements and success. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to other creators?
Hossein Yazdi
This is really useful. Is there any option where it could instantly review any website's terms and privacy in a flash? I think that's very demanding, as most people don't have time to read them fully and just accept anything, which isn't okay at all.
Fred Leeming
@hosseinyazdi this is a great idea! the only way to do it now would be to copy and paste into a word document but having a URL option in the future would be a great idea
Chandula Perera
This is awesome! Is there a feature to share the overviews with my team/lawyers? that would be cool! Congrats!
Fred Leeming
@chandula Thanks for the feedback! - at the moment you can't share directly, but this is something we are already looking in to help people collaborate with others

Epic product, love the simplicity
Kyrylo Silin
Congrats on the launch, Fred! review.legal sounds incredibly useful for demystifying legal documents. How accurate are the clause-by-clause explanations, and are there plans to support additional document formats beyond text-based contracts?
Fred Leeming
@kyrylosilin thanks for your kind words. The clause explanations have been designed to simplify clauses as much as possible but without losing key details - would love you to test and let me know what you think. Our next step will be text-based PDF and then if we get more requests beyond that we'll look into it.

I'm curious about the AI's capabilities. How does it handle complex legal jargon and nuances in contracts to provide clear explanations to users? Great launch!

💡 Bright idea
Great MVP! I think supporting PDF is a must - but I'm sure it's on your roadmap. I also think account creation can be shortened (there are a few optional fields in there), so people can get to that aha moment quickly! To get to aha moment quickly, why not start an onboarding right after the user logins for the first time - for example, you can open the upload a document in full screen/pop up, and with each step, you can use tool tips or interactive guides to help users understand what does summary highlights, how the details show section by section and how they can ask questions with the context of each section, etc. Congrats on launching such a great product @fred_leeming1 and team - I would try to use it on my offer letter or other important legal documents even personally!
Fred Leeming
@tonyhanded this is a great recommendation - we have a few people logging in and not uploading documents so keen to help reduce friction here. PDF will come soon enough!
