When we implemented RevenueCat in 2021, there were not many mature options for cross-platform mobile subscription infrastructure. The realistic alternatives were mostly building directly with Apple StoreKit and Google Play Billing ourselves, or trying much newer/smaller tools.
Other subscription tools either existed or were emerging around that time, such as Qonversion and Adapty, but RevenueCat felt like the most established and practical choice for our needs.
RevenueCat appeared to be the clear leader and the only mature, proven option for what we needed. We wanted a reliable way to manage mobile subscriptions across both Apple and Google without building and maintaining all of the receipt validation, entitlement logic, and renewal tracking ourselves.
