👋 Hey Product Hunt! I'm Carlos, the founder of REP Helper, and yes, I built this because I lived the problem myself.
🤔 Why does this product exist?
As a real estate investor, I went looking for a tool specifically designed to help investors track rental activities, hours, and supporting documentation in a reliable way. It didn't exist. What I found were generic time trackers, spreadsheets, and manual workarounds that were tedious and never built with real estate in mind. So I built the product I actually wanted to use.
😩 What problem does it solve?
Investors do the work but they don't have a clear, consistent, and organized way to document it throughout the year. That gap becomes a serious issue when trying to qualify for Real Estate Professional Status (REPS) or prove STR material participation to the IRS. Doing the work isn't enough. You have to prove it to unlock massive tax savings.
🏗️ How did I build it?
I built REP Helper around how real estate investors actually work. The IRS requires hour logs to be contemporaneous, meaning they must be created in real-time or near the time of service. So we used AI to remove friction of logging through
AI-generated activity descriptions
Voice logging
Receipt and invoice capture
Scanning email/calendar events for real estate related work.
🤖 But I wanted to go further than easier logging. REP Helper also adds an intelligence layer with tracking and audit readiness scores, next best actions, and insights so investors can quickly see where they stand, what needs attention, and what to do next. REP Helper also supports API tokens, MCP servers, and a Custom GPT, giving investors the ability to enter, manage, and interact with their real estate work through Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc.
📈 Where is it today?
What started as simple hour tracking has evolved into a all-in-one system that helps long-term and short-term rental investors stay on top of their rental business while making documentation as easy and automated as possible. It's available on web, iOS, and Android.
