What do you think? …

Reminds me of Soundcloud's inline commenting. I like that you can embed videos from Vimeo, YouTube, etc. It has the potential to create a new interaction and community around videos we already consume online.

@rrhoover Insane. Was literally just talking to a friend about doing this today, but primarily to help "microtize" YouTube--help users spend less time watching/waiting and more time consuming and interacting with clips at the parts that matter most. As bad as the trolls used to be with YouTube's old commenting system, I do miss it in some ways.

@KevPrice really great product; would have loved something like this during a video production last year for the review process. Why not default the "type to comment" to on?
Kev Price
@mark__a by "type to comment" do you mean pause on type? If so, I agree. It's just one of those tiny changes that we haven't pushed live.
Paul Smith
Interesting product with big potential; looking forward to seeing the public rollout of the embeddable player.
Erik Torenberg
reminds me of remarkhq.com which has been around + doing well for a bit - @taylorhou what do you think
Taylor Hou
@eriktorenberg seems like we have a new competitor to add to the list. :p - wish #reframe the best of luck. Video is a massive market and it will be interesting to follow their progress in the social use case. If the reframe founders are available, my question would be "where did you get the idea to pause the video when a viewer starts typing?" - great UX - also, what's the experience like with thousands of comments on a video?
James Mundy
Great find @paul_a_smith, impressive product. @taylorhou love Remark too - going to recommend this to some friends who work in film production.
Kev Price
@taylorhou hi I'm one of the founders. We got the pause on type from user testing. Literally standing over people's shoulders and watching them use the system. People seemed to be getting a bit stressed about missing bits or missing the moment while they were thinking so it was a natural progression. I'm glad you like the UX I'm very luck to have @joyork as my co founder, she's a very experienced ux designer among other things. When we get thousands of comments it gets noisy, but we always knew that our main task would be managing signal to noise ratios. We've got loads of ways of segmenting discussions. For instanceth e embeddable player, as well as channels to keep discussions topic specific. We also don't treat all comments equally, we ensure that more important or relevant comments by featured users or people you are following always appear at the top and others will stack beneath it. These tools are improving all the time. Cheers for the questions and feedback. Will continue to reply when I can.
