I’d been running WordPress sites for years and kept hitting the same wall with backups. Either you rolled your own CLI + cron setup, or you paid someone else to store and manage them. Most WP backup plugins live inside the admin. When the site is down, you’re back at the command line anyway. That’s why I built Reaver Backup. Reaver splits the work: a dashboard so you can see backup status at a glance, and a lightweight server-side agent that runs Restic outside WordPress. No PHP memory limits, no OOM mid-backup, no dependence on the site staying up. Restore is the same idea. If the server dies, stand up a basic stack (DB, nginx/apache, PHP), install a new agent, point it at the repo, and restore. We’re also adding site config and stack backup so a new server can come back faster and with minimal effort.
