Peter here. If you price project work in a spreadsheet, you know the drill: rates drift, formulas need updating every time the scope changes, copy-paste errors sneak in, and you lose an hour formatting cells before every send.
Every agency I've worked at did it that way, and so did I as a freelancer. We all chose spreadsheets because they're simple. Simple just isn't hassle-free.
That's why RateHive exists. I started it three times in two years and, as software engineers tend to do, I over-engineered the first two attempts to death: 5 services, 4 data stores, never launched.

What it does: one rate card, estimates built as roles × hours, then send a branded PDF or a live read-only link instead of an attachment. VAT, currencies and client documents in seven languages are built in, because we're European and most proposal tools handle none of that well.
Where it earns its keep:
"That's above our budget." Send up to four priced variants and let the client choose.
A client in Munich wants the quote in German, with VAT. Switch the document language, same estimate.
Two people quote the same work at different prices. One shared rate card ends that.
Scope talk went sideways and you need last week's numbers. Version history has them.
Who it's for: freelancers and small studios who price project work. If you're solo, Free is a real plan and not a teaser: unlimited projects and estimates, your own logo and company details on every quote, share links, version history, no card and no trial clock. Paying adds priced variants, document languages, and takes our small credit off your documents.
What it isn't: no invoicing, no time tracking, no CRM. It assumes you price work as roles × hours, so if you estimate by materials, or your current system genuinely works, keep it.
