No bot joins the meeting and audio never leaves your device: speech is transcribed on the Mac, with your words kept apart from theirs. Every meeting assistant I tried wanted two things from me: a bot in my calls and my recordings on its servers. I did not want to give it either.
QuietHint stays on your Mac. Nothing joins the meeting, and the audio never leaves the machine. Speech is transcribed on the device, your words kept apart from theirs, and when a question comes up a short reply appears in a small overlay while you are still talking. It works with the call app you already use, on your own Anthropic key, so nobody else ever sees your conversations. Not even us.

Very interesting product Pavel and congrats on the launch.
I loved the website, the app is really polished, and the overall is presentation of QuietHint is great.
I had a few questions as I wasn't able to try it out yet:
How does it retrieve the audio - is it listening to the audio channel or does it integrate with the teams etc?
Since macs now come with a decent version of Apple Intelligence, could we have the option to select the AI model in the future ?
The one scenario I am a bit skeptical about is when we get difficult questions which makes the user nervois and the AI itself might need time to think - it might be useful to have some time buying prompts during the loading / buffering (take a sip of water, ask for a moment to think etc) as these are totally normal responses but human psychology is to want to answer right away

It takes macOS system audio directly for them and your mic for you, so who said what is decided by device rather than guessed. Side effect is that it works the same in Zoom, Teams, Meet, Webex, or a phone call on speaker.
You can already pick them (AI models) if you bring your own Anthropic key. Fully local is the direction. Transcription already runs on your Mac with Whisper, and the hint is the one thing that still leaves it, so Apple's on-device model is the obvious candidate for closing that gap.
Your third point is the best note I've had all week. Right now it just says "thinking", which is the worst possible thing to show someone who is already panicking. Taking that one.

But about the product, I don't want to be rude, I just want to understand: what's the main difference from all the other notetakers? Honestly, I'm here every week, and every day or two I see a new notetaker launch, so I'm starting to get a bit tired of this category ^_^

@lambertlcdb Haha no that's fair, the notetaker graveyard is getting crowded.
Difference is nothing leaves your Mac. No audio uploaded, no transcript sitting on someone's server, no bot joining your call. We call it Privacy. Most tools in this category can't say that, because the server is where their product lives.
What it actually does is drop one line on your screen mid meeting when you get asked something you don't have an answer to. Only you see it.
Notes are coming, the kind that tell you what you actually have to do after. Still cooking that one.

I saw this on your site: "When a question comes up, a short suggestion appears in the overlay. Let it happen on its own, or press ⌘↩." So during the meeting it basically coaches me live, a bit like Cluely? And for the after part you mentioned, will it be able to send follow-up emails, or proactively capture specific tasks (like "send the deck to Marc by Friday") without me asking?
I was curious about the pricing at first because the transcription is running locally on the Mac, which made me wonder where the ongoing AI cost comes in. Then I saw that the hints use the user's own Anthropic key. The $9/month is essentially for the app and unlimited suggestions, while Anthropic usage is separate. That makes a lot more sense now.

Thanks @whatshivamdo , you read it exactly right. Transcription is local, so the only ongoing cost is the model behind the hints, and right now that is your own Anthropic key.
In about 48 hours that stops being the only option. The next release adds credits: you top up once, hints run on our key, and there is no API key to create at all. The first 10 questions are free, so you can judge whether it earns its place before paying anything. The $9/month with your own key stays for people who prefer it, and it keeps working the same way.
