AWS S3 ToolPricing again. Quello stores and serves users’ documents, and with Google Cloud Storage or AWS S3, egress fees would have grown with every file opened or cited. Cloudflare R2 has zero egress fees, so storage costs stay predictable for a solo maker. Its S3-compatible API also made the setup quick, with no need to rewrite my storage code.

chromadbChroma is perfect for prototyping, but Quello needed production-grade filtering and scale for citation-backed search across workspaces. Pinecone would have meant a fully managed, closed service, while Qdrant is open source and I can self-host it or move to its cloud later. Qdrant gave me both without a migration later.
