Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I'm excited to share **PurrrrrFocus** with you today - a focus timer app that makes productivity fun and engaging.
### The Problem
Most focus timer apps feel cold and utilitarian. They track your time but don't create an emotional connection that makes you want to come back. After using various Pomodoro apps, I found myself abandoning them because they felt like work, not a helpful companion.
### The Solution
PurrrrrFocus combines proven productivity methods (Pomodoro technique, time tracking) with emotional design. Instead of a sterile interface, you get:
- **8 adorable cat companions** with unique personalities and smooth animations
- **6 elegant Chinese-inspired themes** that create a serene, distraction-free environment
- **Comprehensive analytics** to understand your focus habits
- **Achievement system** to celebrate your progress
- **Points & rewards** to unlock new content
### What Makes It Special
**Emotional Connection**: Each focus session feels like quality time with a friend. The cats celebrate your achievements, encourage you during breaks, and make the experience genuinely enjoyable.
**Cultural Aesthetics**: The Chinese-inspired themes (Snow Cinnabar, Celadon Glow, Lake Moon, etc.) offer a refreshing alternative to generic productivity apps.
**Complete System**: Everything you need is in one beautifully designed app - timing, analytics, achievements, and customization.
**Flexibility**: Works for quick 5-minute sprints or extended deep work sessions. Choose Pomodoro mode or count-up mode based on your workflow.
### Key Features
✅ **Flexible Timer Modes**: Pomodoro (customizable 5-120 min) or Count-up (unlimited)
✅ **8 Unique Cats**: Each with distinct personalities and 6 animation states
✅ **6 Elegant Themes**: Chinese-inspired color palettes
✅ **Comprehensive Analytics**: Multi-dimensional statistics with beautiful charts
✅ **Achievement System**: 3 categories (Training, Companionship, Memories)
✅ **Points & Rewards**: Earn points, unlock new cats, themes, and music
✅ **Live Activity**: Real-time timer on Lock Screen (iOS 16.1+)
✅ **Privacy-First**: All data stored locally, no cloud sync required
### Perfect For
- Students managing study sessions
- Knowledge workers seeking deep focus
- Freelancers tracking work time
- Anyone building consistent focus habits
### What's Next
We're continuously improving based on user feedback. Upcoming features include more cats, additional themes, and enhanced analytics.
**Try it free** - Core features are available at no cost, with optional Plus features for power users.
I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback! 🐱✨
@bekjon_ibragimov Hope you like the cat companions ideas and the Chinese-inspired themes. I'm still working on improving the UI design and offering better user experiences. Looking forward to hearing more feedback from your side after you try it longer.

Adorable! Love the emotional connection with the cat companions! Just a tiny suggestion: is it possible to boost the FPS of the cat animations so that Yuki and others move more smoothly? Congrats on the launch!
@e36 Thanks for your suggestion. 👍 I can tell you've tried this app already. The animations are the core of this app and I definitely want to improve the user experience and solve any performance issues there. I'll try this approach later. I also have designed another MacOS app for processing videos/animations, which can also accelerate my speed to create these assets.
@yitianchen I want to share with you what's updated recently regarding the smoothness issue. It was not just a FPS issue. Actually, the overall app package size was boosted to over 500 mb in an earlier version. I tried to convert the original animated image assets from APNG to WebP, and the size dropped down to near 360 mb. Sounds good, right? However, I didn't realize another issue was introduced to the WebP encoder, and somehow the animation was not as smooth as before. It took me a few weeks to noticed that and now it's been fixed in the latest version. I also implemented an ODR (On-Demand-Resource) strategy so the assets will be downloaded only when it's unlocked and when the user tried to start a session with the selected cats. I've jot down my technical journey in this blog: https://louisbuilds.me/blog/500mb-crisis-ink-wash-cats-transmov.html. Also, I'm launching another app (Step1st) which is a softer screen time blocker, which is part of the digital wellbeing system I'm trying to contribute to.
We’re turning our focus timer into a growing companion (v2.1 preview)
Hey Product Hunt 👋
After launching PurrrrrFocus here, we kept noticing something in the feedback:
People didn’t just like the cats — they wanted the cats to remember them.
So in v2.1, we’re leaning deeper into emotional companionship.
What’s coming in v2.1 🐾
• Cat Intimacy System Every focus session builds a real bond — from Acquaintance to Best Friend. New dialogues unlock as your relationship grows.
• Personal Cat Profiles Each cat now keeps shared memories: when you met, how long you’ve focused together, and key milestones.
• More languages 🌍 Turkish, Danish, and French — added based on community requests.
Why this matters
Most productivity apps optimize time. We want to support emotional energy.
Focus doesn’t have to feel lonely.
We’d love your thoughts 💬
If you’ve tried PurrrrrFocus before, does this direction resonate with you? What would make a focus companion feel meaningful to you?
Thanks for being part of the journey 🐱✨

OMG this is adorable! I love the Chinese-inspired themes. How do the achievement points tie into unlocking new cat companions? Im so ready to try this!
@jaydev13 Users can unlock new cat companions in the Gift Store by using their points earned. There're also more background sounds and color schemes (theme) which can be redeemed there. Actually in the 1st version, i created all these artifacts, but they're not connected well. Only one default cat has animation effects during the focus sessions. In the latest released v2.0, all cat avatars now have their own animation effects. I'm still working on improving the user experience and still keeping the simplicity.
@jaydev13 I recently released a new version that takes better usage of the Chinese-inspired themes. In the previous version you tried, changing the themes only change the color scheme of the interface. I love those images I crated for each theme, but don't have a clue how to incorporate them into the timer. Recently, by referring to the traditional Chinese garden's design, I realize I could replace the rounded background of the timer with this beautiful images. Now when the timer is working, the cats seems like walking or doing other activities inside the rounded window with different scene as background. Although the image is still, the overall vibe is now different. I'm also adding more "Zen" element in the next version and may launch some seasonal in-app events under the same philosophy. Looking forward to hear more feedback from you and the PH community.
