Hey guys, I'm very excited to share my first solo project with you. I'll share a bit about myself and the motivation behind ProxyDetect.
A bit of background about myself, I've worked in both the automation and anti-automation industries, specialising in reverse engineering and threat detection. From my experience on both sides of the spectrum, I've seen first-hand the importance of proxies and VPNs both for anonymity purposes, but also the key part they play in malicious automated attacks and fraud.
I've developed various techniques to detect whether a connection is a proxy/VPN, and to do so without relying on previous traffic data as to achieve 100% accuracy (no false positives). Allowing websites to detect proxies and VPNs is key to limiting the scale of automated attacks, without proxies fraudsters/attackers are massively limited in their attacks. At the same time, ProxyDetect does not reveal the true location of a user, just whether they are proxying their network connection, and thus does not breach their anonymity.
