Most calorie tracking apps are built for Western food. Dal, paneer, biryani, roti, sabzi —they either can't find these foods or give completely wrong estimates. ProteinPal AI fixes this. Snap a photo of any Indian meal→ GPT-4o Vision instantly identifies every food item and gives you accurate protein and calorie estimates —specifically calibrated for Indian cuisine. Built for the 1.4 billion people whose food has been ignored by Western health apps. Try it free→ india-food-ai.lovable.app

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 Maker here.
I built ProteinPal AI because I was
personally frustrated trying to track
my protein intake as someone who eats
Indian food daily.
Every app I tried — MyFitnessPal, CalAI,
Cronometer — either couldn't find dal
makhani or told me a bowl of paneer had
2g of protein. Completely useless.
So I built the solution myself — with zero
coding background, using Lovable.dev and
GPT-4o Vision API. Took 6 weeks from idea
to launch.
The India-specific angle is the real moat
here. Our AI prompt is specifically trained
to recognize:
🍛 Curries and gravies (chicken, paneer, dal)
🫓 Indian breads (roti, paratha, naan, puri)
🍚 Rice dishes (plain rice, biryani, pulao)
🥛 Dairy (curd, lassi, paneer, buttermilk)
🫘 Legumes (rajma, chole, moong, toor dal)
🥚 Eggs in every Indian cooking style
Would love honest feedback from the PH
community — especially:
1. Which Indian foods should I prioritize
improving next?
2. What feature would make you use this
every single day?
