This is an amazing opportunity to bridge online and IRL communities like never before. It fits perfectly with a fundamental part of the PH experience -- a place where people previously unknown/inaccessible (makers, CEOs, product people) can get meet and interact with those who are interested in some cool products.
Also, a semi-self organizing community of people geeking out over products... all over the globe! Who wouldn't love that?

I was always curious to know how many Product hunters are there in Boston region. Now i know. Thanks for the slack community for PH. Are there any guidelines what will/shud be discussed there? Will the slack community at some point have integration with PH feeds for products and activity streams?

So when Erik and Eric asked me to code up phglobal.co, we ideated many options, but we started with a simple Slack invitation feature, and maps (using mapme.com).
This is very much an organic process, we'll keep learning new ways to enhance the experience for the PH global community, and add more features accordingly.
Any suggestions as to how phglobal.co (the website) can be further enhanced?

I'm a huge fan of the recent move of building communities on Slack and have gained so much out of them already (including a new job). Really excited to see the Product Hunt community come together, especially for the meetups that will come out of it.
