Yesterday, Laura Poitras, Glenn Greenwald, and Edward Snowden did an AMA on reddit for CITIZENFOUR, which won the Oscar this week. One of the top questions was basically "why hasn't anything changed 'post-Snowden'"? One of the major projects mentioned as evidence that things ARE in fact changing was this project. It essentially provides free/open source "de-NSA-ed" alternatives to the versions of operating systems and libraries whose default versions have backdoors from PRISM, XKeyscore and Tempora.

@staringispolite This is awesome. But I think I need to run it past Taylor Swift before I use it as I know very, very little about infosec.

@stttories Ha! Love it. I do think that evolution makes successful progress much more often than revolution (see: Google and FB encrypting backend communications; Apple shipping Full Disk Encryption by default). But I agree with Taylor Swift (lol) that we need more to get to a complete & user-focused solution. As with many things on ProductHunt, the project is closer to its beginning than its end.
