Stuck on a gift? Describe the person like you're gossiping ("My dad, 60. Grills everything. Fishes badly."), snap a photo of their stuff, screenshot their profile, or just paste their Instagram or TikTok name. Penny, our personal shopper, works out what they're into and searches 1,400+ US shops, from Walmart and Target to small specialist stores. You get Top Picks with a reason for each, real prices and direct links, plus more ideas to browse. Free, no sign-up. 600,000+ gift ideas found so far.

Hi everyone,
Every December I get stuck on the same few people: the dad who says he wants nothing, the brother with one very specific hobby. Gift sites expect you to type a product, but when you're stuck you don't know the product. You only know the person.
So Presents.Chat works the other way round. Describe the person in your own words, the way you'd describe them to a friend. Or snap a photo of their stuff. Or, the newest bit: just paste their Instagram or TikTok name. Penny looks through their public posts, tells you what she sees ("pottery, matcha, cats, tennis"), and you can change anything before she searches 1,400+ shops. You get Top Picks, each with a short reason why it suits them, plus more ideas to browse.
A few honest notes:
- It's free and there's no sign-up. If you buy through a link we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you.
- The shops are US shops for now, so prices are in dollars and delivery is to the US.
- Instagram and TikTok: public profiles only, and Penny doesn't keep anything from the profile.
- Searches are anonymous. A de-identified sample supports gift-giving research at York University and West Virginia University.
What I'd love from you: try it on the person you find hardest to buy for (or paste your own Instagram and see what Penny would get you), and tell me where she got it wrong. Every comment goes straight into the fixes before Christmas.
Thanks for taking a look! So, who's the hardest person on your list this year?
