If you are a tutor and considering working for this company, stay away! Go to Wyzant instead. After several years of tutoring there, they just blocked my account with no notice (conveniently when my commission was reduced to the lowest level). I tried to contact them, and an automated email said that I violated their terms and conditions, but refused to tell me which ones. I looked over the terms and conditions and SPOILER ALERT: I DIDN'T. They also stated in their email that they reserve the right not to answer any of my follow-up emails. But the worst part is that they confiscated the funds that I earned by teaching on the platform. That is blatant theft!

I’ve been using Preply for about 6 or 7 months now taking both English and Spanish lessons. There are tons of tutors to pick from and I really like that you can watch their intro videos to get a feel for their vibe. I’ve watched quite a few and ended up liking all the tutors I went with. The platform’s super easy to use. I can quickly check my notes and vocab after lessons. I also enjoy looking at the AI lesson insights, they’re just fun to scroll through. There are some practice exercises and learning materials too, but I haven’t used those. The only thing that’s a bit tricky is the subscription system. You buy a lesson package and if you don’t use it in time, it expires. It does push you to stay on track but if you or your tutor take a break or you just skip a few lessons, you kinda have to play around with it. I usually just move the renewal date or shift lessons between my two tutors. It works, but yeah, you’ve gotta keep an eye on it

I’m learning English on Preply and I really love it. I was looking for a teacher who could work with advanced students, as I mostly wanted to maintain my level and not lose fluency from lack of practice. My teacher, Lindsay, is great at correcting my mistakes, but also gives me the freedom to speak as much as I want. I’ve found myself learning more than expected and actually improving my level. We alternate between her own materials and the ones provided by the platform, which I find interesting and really useful. The classroom environment is smooth and user-friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. One of my favourite features is the Lesson Insights at the end of each session. They highlight what I did well and where I can improve. It’s very motivating to see how I’m progressing—especially in vocabulary, grammar range, and speaking speed.
