This is awesome! Never heard of multiplayer investing before now, and I gotta say... how can I not have? This is one of the best founder ideas I've come across in a long time, it just really makes sense and meets a 'customer pain' so many have!
@simone_lindeque great start at least! The funny thing as a founder is, that oftentimes you have the product vision, but communicating it in a concise way that resonates can be a lot harder! Please let me know if there's any features that you would like to bring to our attention!

@joakim_bruchmann that makes sense! :D But you've been great at communicating the vision and the value for the user so far - in my opinion. So I don't have any questions. Congrats on the launch and look forward to following Plutos further journey!
Hey fellow makers 👋 (and thanks for hunting @mwseibel)
Welcome to Pluto! @vingtoft, myself and the rest of the team have worked super hard towards this day and are excited to launch for the PH community. Here's a bit more context about what we're building.
The problem ❗️
As a former trader at Goldman Sachs, I know that investing is very emotional and that getting started can be daunting. Having helped numerous friends taking the first step to become private investors, I often found myself sending screenshots of my portfolio, performance and latest transactions while providing continuous feedback the other way over WhatsApp. Similarly (being a market junkie myself) I had multiple conversations with likeminded peers and friends causing a lot of back and forth between different apps. 😵💫
I learned that me and my friends weren't alone. About 80% of GenZ investors are looking to friends and influencers when considering their next move. The new generations haven't learned that investing used to be hush hush and why should it? Just like everything else in life, we lean on the ones we trust to make risky decisions: friends and family.
The solution 💥
Pluto is the transparent investment app for you and your friends/family enabling you to collaborate, compete or co-invest. Users can create a group to leverage the accumulated brain-power and see each other's portfolios at any time and get notified when their friends trade. To level the playing field, new investors can start out with $5,000 demo-dollars until they get comfortable enough to deploy their hard earned savings. Investing shouldn't be daunting and we're here to prove that you can both make money, have fun and grow as an investor at the same time. We call this multiplayer investing and new users even receive a cash-reward for signing up. What's not to like? 🥰
We are currently fully live in 🇺🇸 with 🇪🇺 rollout scheduled for 2023.
Feedback, thoughts and reactions? 👂
/ Peace ✌🏼
Congrats on your PH launch!
Curious to know how you think about the competition angle, this is something that I could see as a killer feature.
Is this something you will look to deliberately build out and gamify (for example, league tables, badges, trophies) or will you just rely on the inherent competitive aspect created by being in a group of like-minded friends?
@neilswmurray thanks for your great question - this is one of the things that we are constantly evaluating and iterating on.
For the past months, we have largely been trying to avoid it, but the community has consistently been asking for such features which is why we'll slowly start implementing them. Having said that, we are an investment app and therefore there's definitely a balance!
One of the features is a monthly top-3 (podium) just among your friends. Is this a feature you think would be valuable to you as a user?
@joakim_bruchmann This makes sense, thanks for the transparent answer! I think that sounds cool, anything you can use in a bragging contest against friends is always welcomed 😊
One area where I think deliberate competitive features could be an advantage for you as a product is that people not only love to brag when they beat their friends, but they also love to do so publicly....
So them sharing a badge or trophy on Facebook or Twitter etc, could also serve as a customer acquisition tool for you.
@neilswmurray great input! It's been our play from the beginning to build a natively viral product so all inputs concerning organic growth hacks are greatly appreciated!
Furthermore, when innovating you have to bush boundaries. New features can quickly be removed again if they are causing any adverse impacts.
If you have any further ideas, please let us know!

Nice looking app! I'm sure it was a lot of work to connect everything.
Not sure I agree with your thesis that "no one should invest alone" because investing is very personal and unique to your situation. But I could see how it would be a low-stress onboarding for newbie investors, especially for smaller amounts.
The social component is interesting but not so fun when you are down as everyone is now =(
Curious, what are the "rewards" you mention in your 4th slide? Also, how are you incentivizing growth? If you can share ;)
Thanks and congrats on the launch!
@zack_bruce all great questions. I'll do my best to answer them all below:
It is indeed personal, and it's a fine line. Making it too "serious" means that a lot of people get intimidated and never really get started. Making it too "fun" also has its problems.
But the most important thing is that you as an investor feel safe and that you can grow as an investor. This is where we believe that a community comprised of people you know and trust solves both.
Regarding rewards: when a user signs up, they can complete missions and will collect a cash reward for each which will be available for investing once KYC is approved. Each user can collect a maximum of $15.
Does it make sense or did I miss out anything? :)

@joakim_bruchmann That's a great point about growing as an investor. I definitely see the value in a novel way to onboard newbies.
Wondering what the missions are? Guess I'll have to try out the app! 😉
Thank you for your honest responses!
@zack_bruce we're changing them all the time (still experimenting). One could be adding a profile picture, another making your first trade with demo-money and so forth :)
Happy to get inputs on what a fun mission could be!
The idea is really interesting to me. Would love to try it later! Overall, I think it could see huge growth when people are very hype to try different investment methods to avoid inflation. Crypto, stocks or NFT. You may also use it for B2B to build their community. It will be super fun!
@huy_doan_quang yeah agree. We are adding new assets over time, so those mentioned will indeed be offered eventually. Are you currently using your friends for sparring when investing?
@joakim_bruchmann I also have different groups in discord and telegram to share our ideas and take a look for suggestions of trending company to buy stocks or crypto. So I think your idea could be useful and do you also think about of integrating other stock / crypto price tracking?
@huy_doan_quang interesting. How large are those discord/telegrams typically and do you know the other people in there? We want to add new assets over time, but everything will be traded on Pluto also where you have you Pluto brokerage account.
@joakim_bruchmann the community is 3 or 4 thousands of people. I don't know all of them of course but everyone is very open to share their opinion and prediction. Quite interesting to see their analytics. I think it could be also the same with Pluto now for a healthy community
@richw we were just told last night that Google has taken our app down temporarily to review our privacy policy once again. iOS still available and Google Play will be back up soon!
@joakim_bruchmann right on sounds good.
how did you prep for this launch? just curious cause no twitter followers so curious what your plan was to achieve this many upvotes alredy. we're planning to launch within next couple months
So cool! Congrats on the launch @joakim_bruchmann@vingtoft !!
Curious to know how comfortable users are with sharing this type of data with friends. And are there levels to the transparency you, as a user, will allow in regards to what is shared with friends?
@vingtoft@jonathan_nass great question. Thus far users per default disclose the following to their friends in their groups:
- Ticker and entry price when they buy
- Return when they sell (FIFO principle)
- Portfolio returns
- Portfolio weights
Here's what doesnt get disclosed:
- The dollar-amount they're investing in each transaction
- The dollar-value of their portfolios
When you innovate, you have to push boundaries and that's what we're doing. So far, very little pushback to the above settings.
Did this answer your question and what would you like to disclose?
