We started with a mobile app (https://www.producthunt.com/post...) for real-time air pollution alerts, now covering 65 countries around the world. Runners, cyclists, parents or asthma patients love our forecasts that help them avoid pollution surges. 🏃🚴👨👩👧
Due to popular demand, we're now opening the Plume API 🌩 at https://plume.io to let anyone beat air pollution with one line of code! 💻
Send a latitude/longitude query anywhere in the world, get live air quality levels and hourly forecasts for the main pollutants affecting human health 😷 (e.g. the infamous PM2.5, NO2, O3 etc.). We also forecast global UV index as it can make air pollution worse—like during LA’s summer smog days.
We’ve seen fascinating use cases already, for example data journalists at The Economist used our platform to show that governments systematically underrepresent how bad smog actually is: http://www.economist.com/blogs/g...
The API will helps us keep core features of our mobile app free for people by monetizing our forecasts with companies, but always happy to provide free access to press, research or community projects – especially for ProductHunters! 👐
